Innovative Non-cash Gifts

Did you  know you can make significant contributions to Raleigh Rescue Mission and the homeless we serve when you donate non-cash gifts? About 90 percent of America’s  wealth is in our “stuff” — non-cash assets that can be turned into cash for our favorite charities!

In partnership with The Christian Foundation of the Triangle (CFT), Raleigh Rescue Mission has set up the RRM  Ministry Fund.  Through this fund, we can now accept non-cash gifts and work with you to develop giving strategies that avoid taxes, provide  greater tax deductions and maximize giving.

Listed below are some of the items Raleigh Rescue Mission can now accept through the RRM Ministry Fund (approval of items is at the discretion of CFT and the RRM Ministry Fund). For more information about the Innovative Non-Cash Gifts program, contact director of fundraising and agency relations, Richard Fitzgerald at (919) 828-9014, ext. 103 or richardf@raleighrescue.org.

As you evaluate your assets, your needs and your desire to serve the Kingdom through the ministry of Raleigh Rescue Mission, you may realize just how much you have to give through Innovative Non-cash Gifts!

In many cases, you are better off donating an item than selling it!  Here are just a few reasons why.

• Your unused, unwanted items provide the Mission with funds to continue our programs and services for the needy.

• If you sell an asset and then donate the money to the Mission, you may have to pay taxes on the sale’s proceeds or capital gains. If you donate the item itself, you receive a tax deduction and avoid any tax liability related to the sale of the asset.

• When donating most non-cash assets, you receive a tax deduction based on the fair market value of your gift.

• When donating vehicles, you receive a tax deduction based on the sale and save personal property tax.

• When donating property, you no longer pay property tax and avoid capital gains tax on the sale.
